Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TVI-Biliary-1 is an autologous T-cell immunotherapy being developed by TVAX Biomedical for the treatment of biliary cancer. The therapy is based on the TVAX Immunotherapy platform, which employs a unique two-step approach: first, the patient is vaccinated with their own irradiated tumor cells combined with an adjuvant to prime the immune system; second, the resulting sensitized T-cells are harvested via leukapheresis, activated and expanded ex vivo using interleukin-2 (IL-2), and then re-infused into the patient. These 'educated' effector T-cells are designed to specifically target and eliminate the patient's tumor cells. TVI-Biliary-1 is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
