Overview

TVI-Brain 1 is an autologous cell-based immunotherapy developed by TVAX Biomedical for the treatment of recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and other high-grade gliomas. The treatment utilizes the TVAX Immunotherapy platform, which involves a two-step process: first, the patient is vaccinated with irradiated, neutralized autologous tumor cells to prime the immune system against tumor-specific antigens. Following this priming, the patient's white blood cells are collected via leukapheresis, and the tumor-reactive T cells are stimulated and expanded ex vivo. These activated 'killer' T cells are then reinfused into the patient to target and eliminate cancer cells. The therapy has completed Phase 2 trials and has been granted U.S. FDA Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of glioblastoma.
