Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TVI-Prostate-1 is an autologous T cell immunotherapy being developed by TVAX Biomedical for the treatment of prostate cancer. The therapy is based on the TVAX Immunotherapy platform, which employs a unique two-step approach to generate a robust anti-tumor immune response. First, the patient is sensitized to their own tumor antigens through a vaccination consisting of irradiated autologous tumor cells combined with an adjuvant (typically GM-CSF). Following this priming phase, T cells are harvested from the patient's blood, activated and expanded ex vivo to large numbers, and then re-infused into the patient. These 'educated' effector T cells are designed to specifically recognize and eliminate cancer cells throughout the body. The program is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
