TVT-Dox is an NGR-peptide-targeted liposomal formulation of doxorubicin developed by Ambrilia Biopharma for the treatment of various solid tumors. The drug utilizes an asparagine-glycine-arginine (NGR) peptide sequence to target a specific isoform of aminopeptidase N (CD13) that is overexpressed on the surface of tumor neovasculature. By delivering doxorubicin specifically to the tumor's blood supply, TVT-Dox acts as a targeted anti-angiogenic and cytotoxic therapy, aiming to enhance efficacy and reduce systemic toxicity compared to free doxorubicin or non-targeted liposomal formulations like Caelyx. Development reached the preclinical stage for indications including prostate, lung, and ovarian cancers.
