Overview

TWB-201 is a small molecule transdermal patch formulation being developed by Easywell Biomedicals for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The product utilizes a proprietary transdermal delivery system (TDS) to provide continuous and sustained release of the active ingredient, rotigotine, a non-ergoline dopamine agonist. By delivering the drug through the skin, TWB-201 aims to maintain stable plasma concentrations, thereby reducing the motor fluctuations and "off" periods commonly associated with intermittent oral dopaminergic therapies. The mechanism of action involves the stimulation of dopamine receptors in the brain, particularly the D2 and D3 subtypes, to compensate for the loss of endogenous dopamine in the striatum. TWB-201 is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
