Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TWK10-fermented soymilk water extract (WE) is a research-stage natural product and functional food extract derived from soymilk fermented by the *Lactobacillus plantarum* TWK10 strain. Originally isolated from Taiwanese fermented cabbage, this extract contains active components such as uracil and glycerol (CUG) which function as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Preclinical research indicates that the extract possesses antioxidant properties, evidenced by the activation of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and reduction of malondialdehyde (MDA), and neuroprotective effects mediated through the regulation of calmodulin and nitric oxide. It has been investigated in animal models for the treatment of hypertension, vascular dementia, type 2 diabetes-associated cognitive impairment, and diabetic wound healing.
