Overview

TX-16 is a monoclonal antibody biosimilar of bevacizumab (originator Avastin), developed by Tanvex BioPharma. It is designed to target and inhibit vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a key protein that stimulates angiogenesis, the process by which tumors develop their own blood supply. By binding to VEGF, TX-16 prevents the growth factor from interacting with its receptors on the surface of endothelial cells, thereby suppressing tumor vascularization and inhibiting tumor growth and metastasis. TX-16 is primarily being developed for oncology indications, including metastatic colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, glioblastoma, and renal cell carcinoma. As of late 2017, Tanvex BioPharma reported positive results from a Phase I pharmacokinetics trial for TX-16 conducted in the United States.
