Overview

TX1111 is a peptide homologue of Topoisomerase-1 (TOP1) designed to sensitize pancreatic cancer cells, specifically pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), to the chemotherapy agent gemcitabine. Developed by researchers at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, TX1111 works by mimicking a specific domain of the TOP1 enzyme, potentially interfering with DNA repair or replication processes that contribute to gemcitabine resistance. In preclinical studies, TX1111 has demonstrated the ability to enhance the cytotoxic effects of gemcitabine in drug-resistant pancreatic cancer cell lines, offering a potential strategy to overcome chemoresistance in this lethal malignancy.
