TX200 is an autologous, chimeric antigen receptor regulatory T cell (CAR-Treg) cellular immunotherapy designed to prevent immune-mediated rejection in HLA-A2 mismatched kidney transplantation from a living donor. TX200 consists of regulatory T cells (Tregs) that are genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the HLA-A2 antigen. Upon infusion, CAR-Treg cells localize to the transplanted kidney and, through their immunoregulatory properties, are expected to suppress local inflammation and promote immunological tolerance to the graft. This approach aims to reduce or eliminate the need for lifelong immunosuppressive therapy. TX200 is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials for kidney transplant rejection prevention and has orphan drug designation for transplant rejection. The drug was originally developed in collaboration with the University of British Columbia and is now being advanced by Sangamo Therapeutics, following acquisition of TxCell[1][2][3][4][5][6].
