Overview

TXA14007 + levofloxacin is a small molecule combination therapy being developed by TAXIS Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of multidrug-resistant *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* infections, specifically hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). The combination consists of TXA14007, a novel efflux pump inhibitor (EPI), and the fluoroquinolone antibiotic levofloxacin. TXA14007 is designed to target and inhibit the MexAB-OprM efflux system, a primary resistance mechanism in *P. aeruginosa* that actively expels various antibiotic classes from the bacterial cell. By blocking this pump, TXA14007 prevents the efflux of levofloxacin, thereby restoring its intracellular concentration and enhancing its antibacterial efficacy against resistant strains. The program is currently in the lead optimization stage of development.
