Overview

TXM-CB3 is an experimental low-molecular-weight thioredoxin-mimetic tripeptide developed at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. It is designed to mimic the activity of thioredoxin, a natural protective protein that regulates cellular redox balance and inflammation. By reducing oxidative stress and modulating immune signals, TXM-CB3 aims to attenuate the progression of epilepsy and associated neurocognitive deficits. Preclinical studies have shown its potential in reducing seizure frequency and protecting brain regions involved in memory, particularly when administered early after a major seizure event. Beyond epilepsy, the compound has demonstrated protective effects against cognitive impairment induced by mild traumatic brain injury and has shown efficacy in attenuating allergic airway disease.
