Overview

TXP-11 is an intravenous peptide-based melanocortin receptor agonist being developed by SynAct Pharma for the prevention of organ failure and damage in connection with major surgeries and acute use in critical care settings. The drug targets the melanocortin receptors MC1R and MC3R to induce the resolution of inflammation and provide organ protection, particularly for hospitalized patients at risk of developing organ- or life-threatening hyperinflammation. TXP-11 was acquired by SynAct Pharma through its acquisition of the Swiss biotech company TXP Pharma AG in January 2023. The compound is based on a proprietary platform technology called branched amino acid probes (BAP), which modifies analogues of melanocyte-stimulating hormones (MSH) to enhance their therapeutic profile compared to natural compounds. As of 2024, TXP-11 has completed regulatory toxicology studies and is positioned for Phase 1 clinical trials.
