Overview

TYK2 siRNA refers to small interfering RNA molecules designed to silence the expression of Tyrosine Kinase 2 (TYK2), a member of the Janus kinase (JAK) family. In the context of oncology research, specifically T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), TYK2 has been identified as a critical survival factor. Silencing TYK2 via siRNA or shRNA induces apoptosis in T-ALL cells by downregulating the STAT1 pathway and subsequently affecting BCL2 expression. While TYK2 inhibitors (small molecules) are in clinical development for various autoimmune and oncologic conditions, TYK2 siRNA is primarily used as a research tool to validate the target's role in disease pathways.
