Typhetec

**Typhetec** is an investigational oral live-attenuated bacterial vaccine developed by Prokarium to prevent typhoid fever and diarrhoeal disease caused by enterotoxigenic *Escherichia coli*. It uses Prokarium's Vaxonella platform: an attenuated *Salmonella enterica* serovar Typhi vector carrying the pTYPHETEC plasmid, which encodes ETEC antigenic determinants. The vector has deletions in *aroC* and *ssaV* intended to prevent infection and colonisation while retaining immunogenicity; oral administration is intended to induce protective mucosal and systemic immune responses against both pathogens.
