A bivalent typhoid and paratyphoid A conjugate vaccine is an investigational vaccine designed to prevent both typhoid (caused by *Salmonella enterica* serovar Typhi) and paratyphoid A fever (caused by *Salmonella enterica* serovar Paratyphi A)[5][2][3]. These vaccines combine the Vi polysaccharide antigen from *S. Typhi* with the O:2 O-specific polysaccharide from *S. Paratyphi A*, each conjugated to protein carriers such as tetanus toxoid, diphtheria toxoid, CRM197, or recombinant bacterial proteins in order to induce a robust, T-cell–dependent immune response even in young children[2][3][5]. The mechanism of action is based on the induction of humoral immunity (IgG and IgA), complement-mediated bactericidal activity, and cell-mediated immunity via T-helper (Th1/Th17) and cytotoxic T-cell responses against both pathogens.
