Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) developed by Indian Immunologicals is a monovalent vaccine designed to provide long-lasting protection against typhoid fever caused by *Salmonella Typhi*. Unlike traditional polysaccharide vaccines, this conjugate vaccine chemically links the Vi capsular polysaccharide of the bacterium to a carrier protein. This conjugation process enhances the immune response by engaging T-cells, which allows for the induction of immunological memory and makes the vaccine effective in infants and young children. The vaccine is currently in advanced stages of clinical development in India.
