Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The typhoid conjugate vaccine + paratyphoid A conjugate vaccine is a bivalent bacterial conjugate vaccine candidate developed by Luoyi (Wuxi) Biopharmaceutical for the prevention of enteric fever. It targets both *Salmonella enterica* serovar Typhi and *Salmonella enterica* serovar Paratyphi A. The vaccine is composed of the Vi capsular polysaccharide of *S. Typhi* and the O-specific polysaccharide of *S. Paratyphi A*, each covalently conjugated to a carrier protein, typically tetanus toxoid. This conjugation technology is designed to overcome the limitations of pure polysaccharide vaccines by inducing a T-cell dependent immune response, which provides higher antibody titers, longer duration of protection, and effectiveness in children under two years of age. It is currently in clinical development to address the rising incidence of paratyphoid A infections in regions where typhoid-only vaccines are used.
