Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VacTyph is a typhoid polysaccharide vaccine developed and manufactured by Zydus Lifesciences (formerly Cadila Healthcare) for the prevention of typhoid fever. The vaccine contains the Vi capsular polysaccharide antigen extracted from *Salmonella typhi* and is formulated with phenol as a preservative. As a Vi polysaccharide (ViPS) vaccine, it induces protective immunity by targeting the outer capsule of the pathogen to stimulate an antibody response. According to WHO recommendations, this class of vaccine is suitable for individuals aged 2 years and older. VacTyph represents an earlier generation of typhoid prevention technology compared to newer typhoid conjugate vaccines (TCVs), such as Zydus's own ZyVac TCV.
