Drug intelligence / Profile preview
vax-TyVi is a Vi polysaccharide vaccine developed by the Finlay Vaccine Institute for the prevention of typhoid fever. The vaccine is composed of the purified Vi capsular polysaccharide antigen extracted from *Salmonella enterica* serovar Typhi. Upon administration, it induces a T-cell independent immune response, stimulating the production of specific IgG antibodies against the Vi antigen, which provides protective immunity against infection. vax-TyVi is approved for use in adults and children (typically over two years of age) who are at risk of typhoid fever, particularly in endemic regions or for travelers.
