Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tyris Therapeutics is developing a non-viral DNA-based therapy for the treatment of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). The therapy utilizes the company's proprietary oDNA™ platform to deliver DNA encoding the Collagen VII protein (COL7A1) through local administration. By providing the genetic template for Collagen VII directly to affected tissues, the treatment aims to restore the production of functional anchoring fibrils, which are deficient in patients with dystrophic EB. This approach is intended to improve skin integrity and reduce blistering. The program is currently in the preclinical proof-to-principle stage, focusing on demonstrating the expression of functional Collagen VII in vitro and in vivo.
