Tyrosinase-related protein 2 peptide refers to a short peptide derived from the melanocyte differentiation antigen tyrosinase-related protein 2 (TRP-2, also known as DOPAchrome tautomerase). The best-documented immunologically active epitope is the H-2K^b^-restricted nonapeptide with the sequence SVYDFFVWL, corresponding to amino acids 180–188 or 181–188 of the full TRP-2 protein[1][2][5][8]. This peptide is used primarily in cancer immunotherapy research as a tumor-associated antigen for generating cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses against melanoma, and has been shown to induce effective antitumor immunity in animal models[1][2][5]. Mechanistically, as a peptide vaccine, it is presented by MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells to promote a specific CD8+ T cell-mediated immune response against TRP-2–expressing tumor cells.
