Tyrosine-adsorbed Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus vaccine is an allergen immunotherapy product designed to induce hyposensitization in individuals allergic to the house dust mite Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus. The active component, an extract or antigen from Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, is adsorbed onto tyrosine, which functions as a depot or adjuvant to modulate the immune response. Clinical trials have shown mixed results; while some studies for atopic eczema failed to demonstrate superiority over placebo, others have indicated efficacy in treating bronchial asthma and perennial rhinitis by reducing symptoms and medication scores, and improving lung function.
