Overview

Tyrphostin AG 555 is a small molecule and potent inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase. It displays high selectivity for EGFR over related kinases such as ErbB2 and insulin receptor kinase. The compound induces G1 cell cycle arrest selectively in transformed cells and has been shown to inhibit both early and late stages of viral replication cycles in certain retroviruses. It is primarily used as a research tool in laboratory settings to study EGFR signaling pathways and viral replication mechanisms[1][5][7].
