It was originally identified as a selective inhibitor of the **ErbB-2 (HER2)** and **TrkA (NTRK1)** receptor tyrosine kinases. Subsequent studies have expanded its pharmacological profile, demonstrating its ability to inhibit **NTRK3 (TrkC)** and act as an antagonist of the **Wnt/β-catenin** signaling pathway. Beyond direct kinase inhibition, AG 879 has been shown to suppress the expression of the *RAF-1* and *HER-2* genes and significantly inhibit the biosynthesis of phospholipids and fatty acids in animal cells. These diverse mechanisms contribute to its observed antitumoral and antiviral effects in various experimental models, including breast cancer and viral replication assays.
