Drug intelligence / Profile preview
U-Dream is an over-the-counter sleep aid product marketed in Canada and the United States by Biotrade Canada as a natural sleep supplement for insomnia and sleep support. It was promoted as containing L-tryptophan and herbal extracts, but regulatory testing later found that marketed U-Dream products contained an undeclared sedative-hypnotic substance identified as zopiclone impurity 22, a compound structurally related to zopiclone and eszopiclone. Based on the available information, U-Dream is best characterized as a recalled dietary supplement product rather than a legitimate pharmaceutical development asset; its apparent sleep-inducing effect likely derived from unintended or undeclared GABAergic hypnotic activity associated with the zopiclone-like contaminant.
