UAECell19 is an autologous stem cell-based therapy developed by the Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC) primarily for the treatment of COVID-19 and associated respiratory distress. The treatment involves extracting peripheral blood-derived stem cells from the patient, activating them through a proprietary process, and then re-introducing them into the patient's lungs via a fine-mist nebulizer. This targeted delivery allows the activated cells to reach the site of inflammation directly. The primary mechanism of action involves modulating the immune system to mitigate the 'cytokine storm'—the overproduction of pro-inflammatory mediators—while simultaneously promoting the regeneration and repair of damaged pulmonary tissue. By using the patient's own cells, the therapy minimizes the risk of immune rejection and adverse reactions. UAECell19 received a patent and emergency use authorization in the United Arab Emirates in 2020, following clinical evaluations that showed it significantly reduced hospital stay durations and symptom severity.
