UB-311 is a fully synthetic peptide-based active immunotherapy (vaccine) candidate developed to treat Alzheimer's disease. It employs the UBITh platform technology to target aggregated forms of beta-amyloid (Aβ), specifically oligomers and fibrils, which are implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. The vaccine consists of two Aβ1–14-targeting peptides linked to different helper T-cell peptide epitopes, designed to maximize immunogenicity while minimizing proinflammatory T-cell responses. By stimulating a Th2-biased immune response, UB-311 induces the body’s own production of antibodies against toxic amyloid-beta aggregates in the brain. Clinical trials have shown that it is well tolerated and generates strong anti-Aβ antibody responses with a high responder rate and no significant safety concerns such as amyloid-related imaging abnormalities-edema (ARIA-E). The drug has received FDA Fast Track Designation for Alzheimer’s disease and is currently in Phase 2 clinical development[1][2][3][4][5].
