UB-551 is a recombinant fusion protein incorporating interferon alpha 8 (IFN-α8), developed by UBI Pharma using its proprietary Single-Chain Immunoglobulin Fusion Proteins Platform. IFN-α8 is a subtype of type I interferon known for its potent antiviral, immunomodulatory, and antiproliferative properties. By utilizing a fusion protein format, UB-551 aims to enhance the stability and therapeutic efficacy of interferon therapy compared to conventional formulations. The drug is being developed for a broad range of indications, including chronic viral hepatitis (HBV and HCV), Behcet's disease, and several oncology targets such as colorectal, breast, and ovarian cancers.
