Overview

UB-921 is a monoclonal antibody developed by United BioPharma (UBP Asset) as a biobetter of trastuzumab (Herceptin). It targets the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2/neu), a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor that is overexpressed in approximately 20-30% of breast cancers and a significant portion of gastric cancers. By binding to the extracellular domain of HER2, UB-921 inhibits ligand-independent HER2 signaling and facilitates antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) to eliminate malignant cells. The program is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the treatment of HER2-positive early-stage and metastatic breast cancer, as well as HER2-positive gastric cancer.
