The UBI HIV-1 MN branched peptide vaccine is an experimental synthetic peptide-based vaccine developed by United Biomedical, Inc. (UBI) for the prevention of HIV-1 infection. The active component, designated p200M, is a branched octameric peptide representing the Principal Neutralizing Domain (PND) of the V3 loop of the HIV-1 MN strain envelope glycoprotein gp120 (amino acid residues 295-325). The vaccine is constructed as a radial-octamer, with eight PND-derived peptides attached to a central lysine core to mimic the native presentation of the V3 loop. It has been investigated in Phase I/II clinical trials using two distinct delivery systems: an oral microparticulate formulation encapsulated in biodegradable poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microspheres and an intramuscular formulation adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide (alum). The vaccine aims to elicit both systemic and mucosal immune responses to neutralize HIV-1 by targeting the highly immunogenic V3 loop.
