Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a combination of **ublituximab**, a glycoengineered anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody, and **ibrutinib**, an oral small molecule Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor. Ublituximab binds to CD20 on B-cells inducing cell lysis through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), while ibrutinib covalently and irreversibly inhibits BTK to block B-cell receptor signaling, inhibiting proliferation and survival of malignant B cells. The combination has been studied primarily in patients with **chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)**, especially those with relapsed/refractory or high-risk disease, with the rationale that dual targeting leads to deeper and quicker responses than either agent alone[2][5][7].
