Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UBT251 is a long-acting synthetic peptide triple agonist that targets the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R), gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR), and glucagon receptor (GCGR). It is designed for once-weekly subcutaneous injection. The drug acts as an agonist at all three receptors, aiming to improve glycemic control, promote weight loss, and address metabolic dysfunction. Developed by United Biotechnology, with global rights outside Greater China licensed to Novo Nordisk, UBT251 is being investigated for the treatment of obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD)/nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Clinical trials have shown significant weight reduction in obese patients and a safety profile consistent with other incretin-based therapies[1][4][5][6][8].
