Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UBT38006 is an investigational long-acting basal insulin analog being developed by United Bio-Technology (Hengqin) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. As a peptide-based biologic, it functions as an agonist of the insulin receptor, mimicking the glucose-lowering effects of endogenous insulin by promoting peripheral glucose uptake and suppressing hepatic glucose production. The drug is designed for subcutaneous administration and is currently undergoing Phase I clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. In these studies, UBT38006 is compared to insulin degludec, a standard long-acting basal insulin, to characterize its metabolic activity and potential for once-daily or less frequent dosing.
