Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UC-101 is an investigational, allogeneic "off-the-shelf" chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Chengdu Ucello Biotechnology. It is derived from umbilical cord blood (UCB) and engineered to simultaneously target two key B-cell antigens: CD19 and B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA). This dual-targeting approach is designed to achieve comprehensive depletion of both B cells and long-lived plasma cells, which are central to the autoimmune pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). By utilizing umbilical cord blood as a starting material and employing a universal CAR-T (UCAR-T) platform, UC-101 aims to provide a more accessible and standardized treatment option compared to autologous CAR-T therapies, which are often limited by manufacturing timelines and the poor quality of a patient's own T cells. It is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for patients with refractory systemic lupus erythematosus.
