Overview

UCAR-T cell therapy targeting HER2 or EGFR is an allogeneic, 'off-the-shelf' chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Zhongshan People's Hospital. It is designed to target either Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) or Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR), both of which are frequently overexpressed in high-grade gliomas. As a 'universal' CAR-T (UCAR-T) product, it is derived from healthy donor cells and engineered to minimize graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and host rejection, allowing for immediate availability without the need for patient-specific manufacturing. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (ChiCTR2200059343) for patients with advanced, relapsed, or refractory high-grade glioma to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy.
