Overview

UCART is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" CAR-T cell therapy being developed by Base Therapeutics. It is engineered using the company's proprietary AccuBase base editing technology, which enables a "one-step" process to simultaneously insert the chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) and perform necessary gene edits. These edits typically involve knocking out the endogenous T-cell receptor (TCR) and other immune-related genes to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and host-mediated rejection, allowing the cells to be used in multiple patients without the need for autologous sourcing. The specific molecular targets and clinical indications for the UCART program have not been publicly disclosed. As of early 2024, the program is in the IND-enabling stage of development.
