Overview

UCART38 is an allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy designed to target and eliminate cancer cells that express the **CD38** antigen. As an "off-the-shelf" CAR-T therapy, UCART38 uses T cells derived from healthy donors, which are genetically engineered to recognize CD38 and are administered to patients after being expanded in vitro. The main mechanism of action involves the CAR-T cells binding to CD38 on malignant cells, leading to their targeted destruction. UCART38 is primarily developed for the treatment of **T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL)** and is also being explored for **multiple myeloma**. The therapy is at an investigational stage, with early-phase clinical trials ongoing. The CD38 target is widely expressed on malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma as well as on blasts from several hematologic cancers but has limited expression on healthy hematopoietic stem cells, making it an attractive immunotherapy target[2][3][7].
