UCARTBCMA is an allogeneic (off-the-shelf) chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein highly expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma. Unlike autologous CAR-T therapies, which use a patient’s own T cells, UCARTBCMA uses healthy donor-derived T cells that are genetically engineered to express a CAR specific for BCMA. These engineered T cells are further modified to reduce the risk of graft-versus-host disease and enhance persistence and anti-tumor activity. The primary indication under investigation is relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.
