UCB-Tregs (fucosylated) are an allogeneic cell therapy consisting of regulatory T cells (Tregs) derived from umbilical cord blood that have been expanded ex vivo and treated with the enzyme fucosyltransferase-VI (FTVI). This enzymatic modification adds fucose to the cell surface, creating sialyl Lewis X moieties on P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1). This process is designed to enhance the cells' ability to home to inflamed tissues by increasing their binding affinity for E-selectin and P-selectin. The therapy is primarily investigated for the prevention and treatment of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in patients receiving allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplants.
