UCB-Tregs non-fucosylated are ex vivo expanded, third-party (allogeneic) regulatory T cells (Tregs) derived from umbilical cord blood that have not undergone enzymatic fucosylation. These cells, characterized by the CD4+CD25+CD127lo phenotype, are utilized as an adoptive cell therapy to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in patients receiving allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The therapy works by suppressing the activation and proliferation of alloreactive T cells, thereby modulating the immune response to reduce transplant-related complications. Unlike fucosylated UCB-Tregs, which are modified with fucosyltransferase to enhance tissue homing via Sialyl-Lewis X moieties, the non-fucosylated version serves as a standard regulatory T cell product in clinical investigations, such as those conducted at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
