UCB2713 is the S-enantiomer of minzasolmin (UCB0599), an investigational small molecule developed by UCB Biopharma for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It acts as an inhibitor of alpha-synuclein (ASYN) misfolding, a process believed to drive neurodegeneration in synucleinopathies. UCB2713 has been primarily utilized as a radiolabeled PET tracer (e.g., [11C]-UCB2713) to investigate the brain biodistribution and target engagement of minzasolmin in preclinical and Phase 1 clinical studies. It was also used in human mass balance and pharmacokinetic studies to evaluate the metabolism and excretion of the compound class. The development of the broader minzasolmin program was discontinued after the Phase 2a ORCHESTRA trial failed to meet its primary clinical endpoints.
