Overview

UCB4594 is a monoclonal antibody designed to target the human leukocyte antigen G (HLA-G), a protein found in high levels on some cancer cells. By binding to HLA-G, UCB4594 may help the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells that would otherwise evade immune surveillance. This mechanism is particularly relevant because HLA-G is involved in maternal-fetal tolerance, and certain cancers exploit this pathway to avoid detection by the immune system. UCB4594 is being developed as an immunotherapy for advanced solid tumors, with ongoing clinical trials evaluating its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and efficacy both as monotherapy and in combination with other anticancer treatments[1][2][7].
