Overview

UCD19 CAR-T is an investigational CD19-directed chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). This therapy is distinguished by its point-of-care manufacturing model, where patient cells are processed locally using the automated Miltenyi Biotec CliniMACS Prodigy system rather than being shipped to a centralized commercial facility. This decentralized production approach is designed to reduce the 'vein-to-vein' time, potentially allowing for faster treatment of high-risk pediatric and young adult patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL). The CAR construct targets the CD19 antigen, which is ubiquitously expressed on the surface of most B-cell malignancies, triggering T-cell activation and subsequent lysis of the tumor cells.
