Overview

UCD7-CAR is an investigational universal allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy that targets the CD7 antigen, which is highly expressed on malignant T cells in diseases such as T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), T cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL), and some acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The therapy is manufactured by genetically modifying healthy donor T cells to express a CAR that recognizes CD7 and to eliminate endogenous T cell receptor (TCR) and CD7 expression on the CAR-T cells. This genetic engineering helps to prevent "fratricide" (CAR-T cells attacking each other), minimize the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), and evade immune rejection. UCD7-CAR is designed as an off-the-shelf, allogeneic cellular immunotherapy for relapsed or refractory CD7-positive hematological malignancies. Early trials report promising anti-tumor activity with manageable toxicity.
