UCHL5 short hairpin RNA is an experimental RNA interference (RNAi) agent designed to silence the expression of the Ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase L5 (UCHL5) gene. UCHL5 is a deubiquitinating enzyme associated with the 26S proteasome that regulates protein degradation and various signaling pathways. In the context of oncology, particularly renal cell carcinoma (RCC), UCHL5 has been shown to promote tumor progression, proliferation, and glycolysis by activating the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/protein kinase B/mammalian target of rapamycin (PI3K/AKT/mTOR) signaling pathway.
