Overview

This is an investigational biologic therapy consisting of nebulized umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell (UCMSC)-derived exosomes. Developed by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, it is being evaluated for the treatment of chronic cough in patients with post-acute COVID-19 syndrome (Long COVID). These exosomes are extracellular vesicles secreted by mesenchymal stem cells that inherit the immunosuppressive and regenerative properties of their source cells. They function through intercellular communication by transporting bioactive molecules, such as miRNA and proteins, to target cells in the respiratory system. The therapy is administered via nebulization twice daily for five days, aiming to alleviate persistent inflammation and promote tissue repair in the lungs.
