UF-KURE-BCMA CAR T-cells are an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. This therapy uses a patient’s own CD4-positive and CD8-positive T cells, which are genetically engineered ex vivo using a novel ultrafast lentiviral manufacturing system to express a humanized anti-B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) chimeric antigen receptor. The process allows for rapid production from simple peripheral blood draws rather than invasive leukapheresis, with manufacturing times significantly shorter than standard FDA-approved CAR-T therapies. After genetic modification and expansion, the modified T cells are infused back into the patient following lymphodepleting chemotherapy to target and eliminate BCMA-expressing multiple myeloma cells[1][2][3].
