Overview

UHRF1 siRNA is a research-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of Ubiquitin-like containing PHD and RING finger domains 1 (UHRF1), a critical epigenetic regulator. UHRF1 is essential for maintaining DNA methylation patterns by recruiting DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) to hemimethylated DNA and regulating histone deacetylation. By knocking down UHRF1, this RNA interference (RNAi) agent can induce cell cycle arrest, promote apoptosis, and reactivate silenced tumor suppressor genes. Preclinical studies have explored its potential in treating various cancers, including bladder cancer, cervical squamous cell carcinoma, and pre-B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, as well as fibrotic diseases like pulmonary fibrosis, where it may arrest fibroblast proliferation. It is primarily used as a laboratory tool and has not yet entered clinical development as a proprietary therapeutic asset.
