UI066

UI066 is an incrementally modified drug (IMD) developed by Korea United Pharm, consisting of a controlled-release formulation of the small molecule vasodilator beraprost sodium. Beraprost is a synthetic analog of prostacyclin (PGI2) that acts as a potent vasodilator and inhibitor of platelet aggregation by serving as an agonist at the prostacyclin receptor (PTGIR). The controlled-release delivery system of UI066 is designed to maintain stable plasma concentrations of the drug over an extended period, which aims to improve therapeutic efficacy and patient compliance while minimizing side effects associated with the peak-to-trough fluctuations of immediate-release formulations. It is primarily intended for the treatment of vascular conditions such as peripheral arterial disease and potentially pulmonary arterial hypertension.
