Overview

UIO-526 is a preclinical oncolytic adenovirus candidate being developed for the treatment of advanced solid tumors. Originally developed by Unleash Immuno Oncolytics and licensed to TransCode Therapeutics in March 2026, UIO-526 is part of an 'Anti-Angiogenic Program' of high-potency oncolytic viruses. The candidate is engineered to selectively replicate within malignant cells and the cancer-associated stroma, leading to direct tumor cell lysis (oncolysis) and the release of tumor-associated antigens, which helps stimulate a systemic anti-tumor immune response. As a next-generation oncolytic immunotherapy, UIO-526 is intended to deliver therapeutic payloads directly to the tumor microenvironment to inhibit tumor growth and vascularization while overcoming local immunosuppression. Potential indications for the program include glioblastoma, ovarian cancer, and other aggressive solid malignancies.
